Using Index Cards to teach Reading

Today I want to share how I use index cards to teach reading to my youngest daughter.  I love index cards!  I think I love everything that has to do with paper and writing!

I like using index cards with her (my youngest daughter)  because she can hold them easily.

One evening I decided to use the book of Genesis to teach her sight words.  So what I did was wrote all the words on an index card.  Some of the words she already recognizes.  And there were a few of the words that I added a drawing just to bring the word home.
 I simply used:
-a Sharpie black marker
-index cards
-pink ink pen

I always try to teach her any type of reading in black and white.  I want her to focus on the seeing and understanding the word alone.  I have been doing this for awhile now and it really seems to help her identify quite a few sight words.

Do you use index cards for anything?  I would love to know!  Let me know in the comment section below.
