Hand lettering compilation

When I started this blog, Good Artbox, I had honed in on a sure to be fun subject or should I say niche! and that was art.  I had just taken a branding questionnaire that directed me to art as something that came pretty easy for me.

Art does come very naturally for me.  I doodle and scribble out stuff all the time while on the phone or waiting etc.

I have been writing verses out for a very long time.  I love to write.

One of the things that I have learned since focusing on art as a blogging topic is how to create a calligraphy look or hand type look with your writing.  The technique is so simple that even if you feel that you have no artistic ability (which you do) you can create your own hand lettered pictures.

If you want to make your own hand lettering drawings, simply write something.  After writing your word or verse, draw another line next to every place that your pencil or pen went in the downward stroke.  That's all I did for these pics.

Then you can shade in the space between the outline and the letter line.

Contact Forms on Blogger -yay!

This blog post is for that one person who blogs on blogger and has always wanted to add a Contact Form.

Well, Blogger has done it! They now have Contact Forms as a choice in the "Add A Gadget" selection.

Simply go to your Dashboard.

Then click on Layout.

Then click the Add a Gadget button.

Then select "More Gadgets".

You will then see Contact Form.

Then click and add to your site.

Very cool.

Art Blogs I have found since starting Good Artbox

Remember this post here.  Well, here is the follow up to that!  I said that I would post about Art blogs that I found since starting Good Artbox!

Art for Kids Hub - This blog taught me how to draw this.
This blog is great for children as well as adults. Why? Because Rob, the blog author takes you step by step through "how to" draw something.
This was one of my first art blog discoveries when I started this blog!

The Postman's Knock - This is a daily read for me (except Sabbath)!  I found this blog by googling "how to paint watercolor flowers"!  Lindsay is an awesome blogger! She teaches lots of stuff about sending letters and writing calligraphy!  The things on this post, I learned from reading her blog!

Deep Space Sparkle - Patty, the blog author is an art teacher and has an amazing way to share projects from her art classes.  Limitless info here!  This is a great site for homeschoolers as well! ...loaded with art ideas!

These are my top go-to Art Blogs!   I don't necessarily agree with everything on these blogs but I like them overall.

Branding and Blogging

I took a branding questionnaire some time back.  That thing was so mind opening!  It really helped me to focus on something with blogging.   I should say that it helped to focus on something that comes natural for me.

Art.

You see I have blogged about some of everything since 2009.  I blogged about natural hair, motherhood, and vegetarian/veganism just to name a few.

If you are trying to figure out which direction to take your blog, I strongly recommend tapping into the Branding info at the link below.

As you look around my blog, you will see that I am not the world's greatest artist.  And I am totally okay with that.  I don't claim to be anything other than an imperfect Christian.

 I really never would have imagined that I'd be blogging about art.

 But the branding questionnaire directed me to this "very good for me" discovery.

I used to teach Pre-K and my class was filled with art and creativity projects left and right.
I taught an after school Arts and Crafts program for middle school children.
I taught a homeschool art class at Michael's Arts and Craft store for awhile also.
I also created signs and posters for a Summer Program that I taught art there as well.
I have even had several people pay me to create artwork for their school, classroom and birthday party!

Blogging about art is very new to me.  I am not an expert at it, but I like art.

We recently moved to a new place and I decided to create an art space to see what kinda cool creative things that I can come up with!  When I get it all together, I will post photos.

When I found these mason jars at Target recently, I knew I wanted to use them for art supply storage.

Oh and since starting this blog, I have found the coolest art blogs and artsy instagrammers. I will put together a post about them for you soon! UPDATE  here is that post.
