After Church Activity: Watercoloring My View

Hey Everyone!

Can you believe tomorrow is September?

Time waits for no one.

...and time has flown by this year.

Today for this post, I want to share with you one of the activities that I sometimes do after church.

One of the things that I used to do with my daughters after church when they were younger was to bring their little sketch pads and colored pencils to a local park.  We would sit on a blanket and draw whatever we saw in nature.

And recently, we took our youngest (the last in the nest) to a nearby lake after church and we water colored.

Yep, we water colored our view.

Just a little simple relaxation thing that we do after church sometimes.

Christmas Card Confetti

I found this really cool Flower Confetti on this really cool blog!

Well, seeing that Christmas is right around the corner and Christmas cards will be mailed out soon, I actually saw a need for Christmas Confetti.

Yes, Christmas Card Confetti!

I wanted to make this so much that I made it without a Christmas Card just to see what it looked like. So now when I purchase my cards, I will already know the excitement of it all! -so fun!

To begin this little project, I made a few watercolor blotches on watercolor paper.  I took the paintbrush and rubbed it over the tip of the watercolor pencils.  Doing it this way seems to make the color a little darker.

Part of the fun and beauty of this is the imperfections of the blotches which makes it perfect.

After letting the blotches dry, I used a gel pen to draw around the blotches.

I drew Christmas trees, flowers, and snowmen.  I also drew a star and star flower.

After drawing around the blotches, I cut out the shapes.

On the back of a couple of the confetti, I wrote a little note.

And voila!  You have Christmas Card Confetti!

Simply stick inside any Christmas card and let the cheer spill out!

So now you can add a little extra Christmas cheer to those Christmas cards!

This is also a great project for the kids to do.  They could glue them to the outside of envelopes or make a Christmas scene on paper.

Day 22 - Look up and Live

Although I drew a balloon to go with the verse that I am about to share, this is serious.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. -Numbers 21:8

The children of Israel were dying.  Their camp had been invaded by snakes.  The Lord gave Moses instruction to make a fiery serpent and set it upon a pole.  The Lord instructed them to look up and live.

Simple as that.

When life is overwhelming you with financial problems, marital problems and health and family issues, look up and live.

Look to Jesus.

In Him is life, hope and fullness of joy.

Look up and live.

Day 21 - Taste and See

Some foods in life are just yummy.  Like icecream, but in my case vegan icecream.  And in my daughter's case Coconut Icecream.  My daughter is allergic to soy and dairy.

I love artichokes.
I love eggplant.
I love mushrooms,
I love green olives.
I love smoothies with frozen bananas and soymilk.
I love vegan entrees.

I love all these foods because I have eaten (or drank) them on many occasions.  I have eaten them for many years and I know for sure that I love these foods!

Day 15 - God is Love

With all that is going on in the world, sometimes we forget that God is love.  All day. Everyday.

The awful things in this world are the result of sin, not the results of God not knowing or caring.

Because God knows and God cares.

God is love.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Day 10- ...but the Son of Man..

I decided to press on with the 31 Days of Drawing His Word even though I am four days behind.  I was going to just stop doing the 31 Days, but decided to just keep at it and who knows maybe I will actually do all the 31 posts.  I am going to post 31 posts but I have already missed (several times) posting daily.  ...I am new to this.

I saw a fox at Art Projects for Kids.  I thought about this scripture:

And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Since my daughter was out of school today and I didn't have to work, we watercolored.

Day 3 - The Birds trust, live and soar

This photo above is from my Scripture Notebook that I use to doodle drawings when I study my bible.  I always try to have some type of small notebook when I study the Bible because if I want to jot something down or draw something, I have paper right there to do that.

The watercolor photo  in this post was my very first attempt at using watercolor pencils.  The barn below was my inspiration.

This is also before I started practicing calligraphy as well.  But, you have to start somewhere when you start anything.  And this is my somewhere starting place with watercolor pencils and calligraphy. Not fancy but it is where I started.

The photos below were taken during an outing earlier this year.

Do What He says

One morning I read these verses.  There were six waterpots in the story and in my doodling, I doodled six.  But when I decided to draw this photo, I drew one waterpot.

Mary told the servants to "do what He says" and they obeyed Jesus.  They did what He said.

Society today tells us to:

-do whatcha feel

-do what makes you happy

-do you boo

-do your own thing

-do what you feel is best

-do whatever you will to do

But the mother of Jesus simply said "do what He tells you" and the servants obeyed and the water they put into the waterpot was no longer water.

The water was changed.

And isn't that what happens to us when we obey His word. We are changed by obeying His word.

...just like that.

...by doing what He says.

...what He says.

...He says.

And there is so much that He says in His book.

Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. -John 2:7
